From the slum Kayole, in Nairobi, Kenya The Boondocks Gang are a three-man gengetone group comprised of Exray, Maddox and Odi Wa Murang. Raw and sexually explicit, gengetone has emerged from the horrific poverty of Nairobi’s slums as the rebellious voice of a new generation beating back the restraints of a traditionally conservative Kenya.
In December 2018 The Boondocks Gang released the song “Reing” and this track began a wave of hits that would be produced by the group in the following months like Madam, Mboko Haram, Ital, and Modo Man. As their fame began to rise in 2019, they started collaborating with some of the best-known artists in East Africa, including Sauti Sol, Khaligraph Jones, Ethic Entertainment, Sailors and other international musicians. The highly sought-after bands maintain a heavy tour and performance schedule in East Africa
with ambitions on bringing their intoxicating performances to the planet. Also, in 2020 they were featured in billboard as the new kids in town at number four to join top Kenyan YouTube musicians with around 17million views.
