With the ability to manipulate both nostalgic- and futuristic sounds, Surreal Sessions have become a mainstay in Cape Town’s distinct Gqom scene, representing the city’s Gqom denizens at both AFROPUNK and CTEMF in 2018/2019 respectively.
In 2018 Surreal Sessions, along with South African musical icons FAKA, became the soundtrack to Versace’s 2019 Spring/Summer Men’s Fashion show. The tracks were hand picked by Donatella Versace. This came as a climax after the critically acclaimed AmaQhawe the two duos collaborated on in late 2017.
The duo co-manages Cape Town based Dance and Club music label and collective CAPECLUB, the label has since its inception in 2017 released EPs and singles by Omar Morto, Dovewax, Thought Patrol, and their own productions.
They also have done remixes for London based artist Mina and collaborated with the likes of Mx blouse locally. They have also played a boiler room in 2019.
